Qualifications

On successful completion of the 14 day programme, candidates will obtain the following formal City & Guilds qualifications:-

1. City & Guilds 2382 -22  Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2018 (2022) including Amendment No.2  
2. City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification
3. City & Guilds 2393-10 Level 3 Certificate in the Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings - (Part P Electrical Safety)


 

Who is this course for?

* The programme has been successfully taught over many years in Bristol  to provide candidates with a starting place to embark on a journey into the domestic electrical sector and don't yet hold the skills, knowledge of confidence to make the initial leap! 
It will provide a suitable starting point for those wishing to begin a career or work towards setting up a second income stream in domestic electrics  along with those people who are not primarily involved with full scope electrical work, but have to undertake limited non notifiable work under Part P of the Building Regulations as part of their day and day operations, such as maintenance/handyman persons, intruder/fire/cctv/access control personal etc. It will also provide a comprehensive grounding for candidates wishing to seek employment in the electrical industry as a 'mate' (i.e being supervised by skilled persons) before deciding to embark on the formal process to become a registered electrician as required by the Joint Industry Board, IET, TESP and the CPS operators (full advice on these requirements can be viewed by following the associated links here:-

Course description

What's included in our FOUNDATION programme:-

 

The course is designed To prepare candidates for entry into the domestic electrical installation field. We have developed a range of practical electrical training exercises to provide the essential skills and knowledge of installation practices within our fully equipped electrical training workshops in Kingswood, Bristol.

The following practical training exercises will be conducted and feedback will be provided by qualified assessors at the centre, as follows:-

1. IN(A) Identification of accessories

2. IN(B) Identification of cables (Visual)

3. IN(C) Identification of cables using a micrometer

4. IN(D) Cable terminations

5. IN(E) Connecting 13Amp Plug and a 100V BSEN60309-2 Industrial Plug

6. PP(A) One way switched lighting circuit via a junction box (PVC/PVC)

7. PP(B) Two way switched lighting circuit via a junction box (PVC/PVC)

8. PP(C) Two way and intermediate switched lighting circuit (PVC/PVC)

9. PP(D) Three lighting points with two 1 way switches 3 plate loop in wiring (PVC/PVC)

10. PP(E) Two way conversion of PP(C) 3 plate loop in wiring (PVC/PVC)

11. PP(F) 20 Amp radial power circuit (PVC/PVC)

12. PP(G) 30 Amp Ring Final Circuit (PVC/PVC)

13. SWA(1) SWA cable gland assembly

Fundemantal Electrical Principles and their application will be embedded into the delivery through theory and lab works, leading to studying the following formal qualifications:-

1. City & Guilds 2382 -22  Level 3 Award in the Requirements for Electrical Installations BS7671:2018 (2022) including Amendment No.2  
2. City & Guilds 2392-10 Level 2 Certificate in Fundamental Inspection, Testing & Initial Verification
3. City & Guilds 2393-10 Level 3 Certificate in the Building Regulations for Electrical Installations in Dwellings - (Part P Electrical Safety)

Assessment

The programme will require candidates to sit both practical and online computer based assessments/assignments throughout the training programme.

1. City & Guilds 2382-22 - online exam (open book).

2. City & Guilds 2392-10 - online exam (closed book) and practical assessment 1:1

3. City & Guilds 2393-10 - online exam (open book).

4. Practical training exercise log book evidence and M/C paper (closed book) on Electrical Science.

Materials Required

Comprehensive learning materials will be provided along with electrical test equipment and instruments etc.

Tools & Materials for practical tasks.

All candidates will be provided with their own copies to keep of the following IET publications (£237.00 value added).
